SCHOLARSHIPS – UPDATED 11/19/2009.

 National Scholarships for Seniors - $1000 - $7500.   History buff?  Enjoy politics?  Government or military service in your future?  Washington Crossing Foundation scholarships - Visit gwcf.org or call 215-949-8841.

 Local Masonic Lodge Scholarships through the Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation.  Each year the local Masons give 2 scholarships of at least $500 each.  One is the Beacon’s Scholarship and one is the Floyd Helsel Memorial Scholarship.  See Mrs. Richardson for an application will entail writing a short essay and getting letters of recommendation.  They are due by NOVEMBER 20th, 2009 to Mrs. Richardson!

Western Michigan University – Medallion Scholarship Competition.  January 23, 2010.  For Seniors attending WMU in the fall with a 3.7 GPA or higher and a composite ACT score of 26 or higher.  Must apply to WMU by December 4th, 2009. 

The NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation is offering scholrships to seniors who will be entering postsecondary schooling in the fall.  You should be able to demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and initiative such as Staring your own business OR Participation in organizations such as DECA, Future Business Leaders of America, Junior Achievement, among others, OR through other initiatives.  You should consider any endeavors or work experience you have offered as a community service. (Babysitting, lawn care, tutoring, etc.)  An officially established business is NOT a requirement.  Apply now at www.NFIB.com/YEA by December 31, 2009.

NALS of Michigan Scholarship Award.  One annual scholarship of $1000 to an individual enrolled, or planning to enroll, in a school of advanced education pursuing a degree in the legal field.  Open to high school seniors as well as current college students.  Must have at least a B average and be in need of financial assistance.  Must also include an autobiographical statement and 2 letters of recommendation.  See Mrs. Richardson for an application.  They are due by January 15, 2010.

KFC Colonel’s Scholars is looking for HS Seniors w/ financial need and an entrepreneurial spirit to qualify for their program.  Awards up to $20,000.  Seniors must: have a minimum 2.75 GPA, Enroll in a public college or university in Michigan, Plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree, Demonstrate financial need.

 Wexford/Missaukee Chapter of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel will offer 2 $500 scholarships to Wex-Miss high school students – one to a student enrolled in a teacher education program and one for students enrolled in a non-teaching program leading to a degree.  See Mrs. Richardson for an application.  They are due by February 15, 2010.

AXA Achievement Community Scholarship.  For Seniors who have the following characteristics:  Amibition and drive, Determination to set and reach goals, Respect for self, family and community, Ability to succeed in college.

Ronald McDonald House Charities US Scholarship Program.  Seniors who are exemplary role models in their communities and have the initiative to fulfill their educational goal.  Apply at www.rmhc.org by February 16, 2010.

Michigan Oil and Gas Producers Education Foundation scholarship opportunity.
Must be accepted at a Michigan college or university, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need.  Must also be pursuing a degree in a field of study, which will allow them to obtain full time employment in the crude oil and gas industry.  See Mrs. Richardson for an application.  They are due by April 1, 2010.

 AAA Michigan’s School Safety Patrol Scholarship Program.  $1000 scholarships to students who can show documented proof of safety patrol participation (check with Mrs. Gill in the upper el), are in good academic standing, and have a strong record of involvement in the community and/or extra curricular activities.  See Mrs. Richardson for an application only after you have obtained documentation of your safety patrol participation.  Applications due April 16, 2010.
